With Korean Cinema's Hollywood syndrome reaching its zenith, not only you're starting to see companies mount the offensive almost all on the first opening weekend, particularly for those films that need to sell 4-5 million tickets to break even. But, in the last two-three years, something Korean producers rarely cared about started happening more and more: trying to avoid the maligned "18 and over" rating. Films like 무방비 도시 (Open City), 비스티 보이즈 (The Moonlight of Seoul) and many more were "18-rated" to begin with, but cut some touchy edges to reach every possible wallet, particularly that of those ever elusive teenagers. With only one film out of ten breaking even, it's not surprising they'd try that.

Review
Yaguchi (Junichi Kawamoto) and his gang successfully rob a bank and escape with a van full of money to an abandoned goldmine in the middle of nowhere. There they'll have to lay low for a few days until they get contacted by friends who can smuggle them to safety.
But when they first pick up some food a girl (Sora Aoi) accidentally sees the contents of the van, upon which the gang decides to abduct and kill her.
Not immediately of course: she's a cutie and it's going to be a long wait, so the gangsters want to have some fun with their unusually calm prisoner. Starting with a poker game to decide who gets to rape her first.
Little do they know that she may be a mythical she-ogre attracted by greed, and when the first dead victim is found the distrustful gangsters turn on each other rather than suspect their sultry catch...

Ghost of Mae Nak
In Bangkok, the groom Mak is scared, having successive nightmares with a ghost woman, Mae Nak, an ancient Thai legend. He meets his beloved fiancée Nak to visit an old house in Phrakhanong with the unscrupulous real state agent Angel and they decide to buy the property.
After their wedding, two small time thieves break into the house and steal their gifts and other objects. When Mak sees the criminals on the streets of Bangkok selling his goods, he chases the burglars and they run their van over Mak, who gets into a deep coma.
Mae Nak protects the young couple against Angel and the burglars, but in return she holds the soul of Mak. Nak finds the remains of Mae Nak in an ancient cemetery, and with some monks, they exorcise Mae Nak from Mak and release her spirit.
